Ford is set to race up Pikes Peak with a new electric vehicle called the Super Mustang Mach-E. This isn’t your everyday Mustang Mach-E—it’s a specially built machine designed to conquer the tough 12.42-mile hill climb in Colorado, happening on June 22, 2025. French driver Romain Dumas, a Pikes Peak expert, will be behind the wheel, aiming for a third straight win after victories with Ford’s SuperVan 4.2 in 2023 and F-150 Lightning SuperTruck in 2024.
This electric beast packs three powerful motors, delivering over 1,400 horsepower, and uses a lightweight 50kWh battery. It’s built to stick to the road, producing 6,900 pounds of downforce at 150 mph—more than any Ford EV racer before. With carbon brakes, forged magnesium wheels, and Pirelli tires, it’s ready for the mountain’s 156 turns and 14,115-foot summit.
Ford worked with STARD, an Austrian motorsport company, to make this car lighter by 260 pounds while boosting its braking power.
Pikes Peak is perfect for electric vehicles since they don’t struggle with thin air like gas-powered cars. Ford’s last two racers dominated, and this Mustang Mach-E aims to keep that streak alive, possibly even breaking the course record set by Dumas in 2018. Fans are eager to see if this wild-looking EV, with its huge front splitter and massive rear wing, can claim the “King of the Mountain” title again.
