Starting soon, all videos on Facebook will be shared as Reels, making it simpler for users to create and post content. This change, announced by Meta on June 17, 2025, aims to streamline the video-making process while keeping user control over who sees their posts. Whether short, long, or live, all videos will fall under the Reels format, with no limits on length or style.
Meta is combining the tools for creating regular videos and Reels into one easy flow, giving users access to more fun editing options. The platform’s Video tab will also be renamed the Reels tab to reflect this shift. Previously uploaded videos will stay on profiles and Pages, and creators can still reach their audiences as before. Privacy settings will remain the same, letting users choose if their Reels are seen by friends, a small group, or everyone.
The update won’t change how Facebook suggests videos to users—these will still be tailored to personal interests. Meta plans to roll out this change worldwide over the next few months, making it easier to create, share, and find Reels. This move builds on Meta’s push to make Reels a key part of its platform, competing with apps like TikTok by offering a unified video experience.
