OpenAI has added a fun new feature to ChatGPT, letting users make images right in WhatsApp. This update, which started rolling out in June 2025, builds on the ChatGPT WhatsApp contact launched last December. Now, you can text the chatbot to create pictures, making it super handy for quick tasks without switching apps.
To get started, save the number 1-800-ChatGPT (1-800-242-8478) in your contacts and start a chat in WhatsApp.
You can ask for images like a cartoon dog or a scenic sunset. The feature uses the same powerful image-making tech as ChatGPT’s web version, but it’s simpler, with no extra tools like Canvas. Some users love how easy it is to use ChatGPT in WhatsApp, especially since some phone plans don’t count WhatsApp data usage.
If you link your ChatGPT account to WhatsApp, you get more image-making options.
Just send a message saying, “Link my WhatsApp with ChatGPT,” and follow the link to connect your account. Once linked, your chats are saved in your ChatGPT history, and you can control your data like on the main platform. Free users can make one image per day, while linked accounts get more.
This feature makes ChatGPT more useful for quick, creative tasks. Whether you’re brainstorming designs or just having fun, it’s a cool way to bring AI into your daily chats.
