Bill Gates’ Nuclear company gets $650 million boost

TerraPower, a nuclear energy company started by Bill Gates, just raised $650 million to keep building a new kind of nuclear reactor in Wyoming. This money comes from big investors like Nvidia’s venture fund, NVentures, along with Gates himself and HD Hyundai, a South Korean shipbuilding company. The goal is to create a safer, cheaper, and more efficient nuclear power plant called the Natrium reactor, which uses liquid sodium instead of water to cool it down.

The company hopes to get approval from regulators next year to move forward with its $4 billion project.
