Apple’s iOS 26 hints at a Foldable iPhone

Apple’s recent WWDC event dropped a big clue about a possible foldable iPhone. During a session called “Make Your UIKit App More Flexible,” developers learned that the iOS 26 SDK will stop apps from being stretched or boxed on new screen sizes for future devices. This suggests Apple is preparing for a phone with a unique display, like a foldable one.

The latest foldable iPhone prototype reportedly has a slightly smaller inner screen but keeps the same resolution and shape. The inner display uses a 14.1:10 under-display camera, while the outer screen has a 14.6:10 punch-hole design. It also features a side-mounted Touch ID sensor. Unlike regular iPhones with a 19.5:9 ratio or iPads with 3:4 or 16:23, this foldable phone seems to have its own special screen size.

This could mean Apple is working to ensure apps look great without awkward black bars when the phone is unfolded. While Apple didn’t directly mention a foldable device, the focus on “future hardware” and non-standard screens strongly points to a foldable iPhone. These changes show Apple is thinking ahead to make apps work smoothly on a new kind of phone. Fans are excited, as this could be the biggest iPhone design change in years, possibly launching in 2026.
