Apple is gearing up to make its first foldable iPhone, with production set to begin later this year. According to trusted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Foxconn, a key Apple supplier, will start assembling the device in late September or early October 2025. The foldable iPhone is planned for a 2026 launch, joining the iPhone 18 family.
While some parts, like the hinge, are still being finalized, the foldable screen is ready.
Samsung Display will produce it, creating a phone that’s about 5.5 inches when folded and 7.8 inches when opened, similar to a book-style fold like the Galaxy Fold. This design avoids the flip style of some competitors. The phone could be super slim—around 4.5mm when unfolded and 9 to 9.5mm when closed, making it one of the thinnest foldable phones out there.
Apple’s focus is on quality, aiming for a smooth, crease-free display and a sturdy hinge. This foldable iPhone is expected to stand out with its sleek look and high-end build. However, with many details still in progress, fans are eager to see how it shapes up.
The 2026 release will mark Apple’s big step into foldable tech, competing with brands like Samsung. As production nears, excitement is building for what could be a game-changer in the smartphone world.
