According to the latest report, South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy previously announced that due to the global economic slowdown, reduced demand, and falling prices, South Korea’s semiconductor exports fell to $10.78 billion in August, a year-on-year decline to 7.8%.

Among the semiconductor products exported by South Korea, memory chips account for a considerable proportion, and the decline in the export value of semiconductor products means that the export value of memory chips has declined to a large extent.
The latest reports from relevant media also show that DRAM, which accounts for nearly half of South Korea’s memory chip exports, has fallen significantly in August, down 24.7% year-on-year and 7% month-on-month.
South Korea’s massive export of memory chips is due to two major manufacturers, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, whose share of the global memory chip market is close to two-thirds. In terms of DRAM, the share of these two companies is also about two-thirds.
According to data previously released by research institutes, in the first quarter of this year, Samsung Electronics’ share in the global DRAM market was as high as 42.7%. Although SK Hynix’s share declined month-on-month, it still remained at 27.1%, and the two companies’ share was close to 70%.
The decline in South Korea’s DRAM exports in August means that the exports of DRAM products from Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, two major manufacturers, will decline, which will also affect their revenue.
