Apple Xcode Cloud subscriptions now available for developers

After more than a year of internal testing, Apple today announced that it will provide all developers with a subscription service for Xcode Cloud. Simply put, Xcode Cloud is continuous integration and delivery service built into the Xcode program, designed to provide developers with cloud-based tools to help developers better develop apps, run automated tests, and perform other tasks. Speed ​​up the development process while making test distribution and receiving user feedback easier.

“Xcode Cloud is a continuous integration and delivery service built into Xcode that accelerates the development and delivery of high-quality apps. Get started by configuring your workflow in Xcode and get 25 free compute hours per month through the end of 2023. Account holders can now subscribe to additional computing hours in the Apple Developer app”.

Xcode Cloud offers three different payment models:

  • The $49.99 per month version provides 100 compute hours.
  • The $99.99 per month version provides 250 computing hours,
  • 1000 computing hours for $399.99 per month.

According to Apple, developers can switch between the aforementioned plans at any time. The company also noted that the free plan is a limited service for developers who are members of the Apple Developer Program. Starting in 2024, the previously free “25 compute hours” plan will cost $14.99 per month.

Moreover, a computing hour is an hour of performing tasks in the cloud, such as developing an application or running a test. Compute hour usage can be tracked in App Store Connect and the Apple Developer app, and other information can be seen on Apple’s Xcode Cloud website.
