In early 2021, Xiaomi released the Consumer IoT Security Baseline for the first time, providing IoT companies with an open guide to implementing security requirements. Recently, Xiaomi released “Consumer IoT Security Baseline” 2.0 on GitHub, further polishing and analyzing the baseline content. Version 2.0 starts from the perspective of implementation:

1) The classification description of each requirement of the baseline is refined, and the standard requirements applicable to products of different safety levels are distinguished;

2) Optimized the requirements of the baseline and the description of the practice plan, which not only makes it easier for production and research personnel to understand but also makes it easier for all friends who are concerned and interested in the field of IoT security to understand the content of this baseline;

3) Added the appendix on the impact of various baseline requirements on hardware selection and user experience. The appendix marks which requirements of the baseline depend on hardware capabilities to provide a reference for early hardware selection of the project; The products connected to the platform provide reference to reduce the cost of re-development; the clauses in the baseline that may affect the user experience are marked to provide a reference for product managers to evaluate the impact and optimize the plan.

4) Align the latest IoT security standards at home and abroad, through the internal establishment of a knowledge base of domestic and foreign IoT security-related regulations, standards, and guidelines, analyze and research and focus on referring to the most internationally recognized and most common ETSI / The EN 303645 consumer IoT device security standard maps the clauses of EN303645 to the security baseline one by one and integrates them into the baseline.
