Xiaomi removed RAM Extension feature from some Android 12 devices

RAM Expansion feature was first arrived for closed beta testers months ago. Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra was the first smartphone that experienced the function before its wider availability. Currently, the MIUI 12.5 Enhanced version users are testing it whereas, it is expected to be released for all users alongside MIUI 13.

Meanwhile, following the new information, Xiaomi has removed the RAM Expansion feature from some of its smartphones that are running on the Android 12 operating system. Reportedly, these devices include Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra and Redmi K40/Poco F3.

The report also claims that Xiaomi Mi 10 series smartphones, which have been recently upgraded to Android 12 have this feature. Right now, it’s unclear why Xiaomi has removed this useful and loveable feature from its new smartphones.

We hope that the company will soon provide a valid reason for this removal. Anyways, you should not worry about your device as this function isn’t necessarily to improve your device performance.

What is RAM Expansion?

The function works as the name says. After the function is turned on, the system will provide an additional 3.0GB of running memory. It is effective when the smartphone has a small amount of RAM.

This feature is not important for devices having more than enough RAM. But for some reason, the company decided to bypass the model, where there is little RAM.
