Xiaomi released the MIUI Smart toolbox earlier this month, it is the same feature that is available in the Samsung smartphones called ‘Edge Panel’. The feature is still under testing and hasn’t reached the users. However, as per the new information, Xiaomi has already changed the name of the new functionality.
Moreover, Xiaomi took time to execute this feature, for some reason. Above all, the company gave it an unclear name. The company has now finalized the name. According to xiaomiui, the ‘Smart toolbox’ has been now renamed as ‘Sidebar’.

What is MIUI Smart toolbox or Slidebar?
MIUI Smart toolbox or Slidebar helps users to pin certain applications and functions for quick access. It provides three features to the users. They can either access this toolbox always, during gameplay or during video playback.
When select always, users can quickly access pinned apps. While with the other two options, the toolbox will show tools related to gaming and videos, in addition to pinned applications.
What’s New?
The new changes arrive with the MIUI Security app that holds the build version V5.8.1-211123. Aside from the above-mentioned change, the firmware also fixed known bugs as well as improved overall app performance.
Do note that on global ROM you can’t access directly, so try to search for Sidebar or Smart Toolbox in the settings of your device or search for com.miui.dock.settings.DockSettingsActivity in the Activity Launcher.
