Xiaomi’s MIUI Family Guard will be discontinued on October 30

Back in 2019, Xiaomi introduced the “family guard” function alongside MIUI 11. With this functionality, MIUI users have an opportunity to track the location of their child or loved one in real-time.

However, fresh information claims that the Xiaomi community announced that the “Family Guardian” function will stop serving from October 30 at 12:00.

In addition to this, the “Kite Guardian App” on the Guardian Terminal and the “Family Guardian on the Protected Terminal” “Guardian App” will also stop the service.

According to the officials, the guardian will not be able to continue to use all guardian functions, not limited to viewing the location of the guarded end, device and application usage, etc.

Moreover, the guarded end will no longer be able to continue to use all information viewing functions, including but not limited to viewing reminders, receiving push notifications when the permissions are modified by the guard, etc., the family guardian entrance in the mobile phone housekeeper app will also be closed.

Moreover, the relevant information is collected in accordance with the law while providing the services to users. Xiaomi will officially remove it in accordance with national laws and regulations and the requirements of the “Xiaomi Privacy Policy”.

Xiaomi’s implementation of the feature was much more focused on safety and parental control. Family Sharing on MIUI lets you track the location of family members at all times, control the amount of time a user can use an application, and even control WeChat usage.
