Lack of chipset delayed the launch of Redmi K40S

On September 15, Xiaomi officially launched the new Xiaomi 11T series smartphones in global markets. Soon after its release, we have started hearing rumors that for China, the phone will be introduced as Redmi K40S.

Meanwhile, a piece of new information claims that the launch of the new phone has been delayed in its home country. The reason behind this seems to be chip shortage.

Recently, Wang Teng, the product director of Xiaomi, confirmed the arrival of the Redmi K40S on Weibo. In addition, he also said that the K40S is still under manufacture due to a lack of cores/chipsets.

Besides this, the Redmi K40S will reportedly come in three variants, such as –

  • Redmi K40S
  • Redmi K40 S Pro
  • Redmi K40S Pro+

These are said to be equipped with 33W, 67W, and 120W fast charging respectively. Moreover, the previous information also reveals that the Redmi K40S series will adopt a center-drilled straight screen design, the processor may be Snapdragon 870/888, Dimensity 1200, built-in 5000mAh super battery.

Xiaomi 11T series smartphones are designed with a “Cinemagic” experience in mind, with a list of photo and video features, such as AI Cinema modes, 8K recording, and HDR10+. One-click AI cinema modes for features such as Time Freeze, Magic Zoom, and more. There is also an audio zoom feature.

Moreover, they feature a 6.67’’ FHD+ 120Hz AdaptiveSync AMOLED flat display. The 11T is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 Ultra chipset. Whereas, the Pro model equips Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC.

The pair of phones come with a triple camera setup on the rear consisting of a 108MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide unit (120° FOV), and a 5MP telemacro shooter with autofocus. On the front, they have a 16MP snapper for selfies.

They sport a 5,000mAh battery. When the 11T is limited to 67W fast charging, the 11T Pro supports 120W Xiaomi HyperCharge technology. When talking about the software, the phones work on the latest, Android 11 based MIUI 12.5 OS out of the box.
