Xiaomi led global 5G Android smartphone market in Q2 2021

After being the top smartphone vendor in several countries such as India, Europe, etc, Xiaomi becomes the world’s leading smartphone brand of June this year.

It seems that 2021 is Xiaomi’s year, the tech is achieving unstoppable growth in business. In regards, the new information from Strategy Analytics reveals that Xiaomi led the global 5G Android smartphone market in Q2, 2021.

The report further reveals that in the second quarter of 2021, a total of 95 million 5G Android smartphones were shipped globally. Among them, about 24 million units were only shipped by Xiaomi.

Moreover, in the past nine quarters, Xiaomi cumulatively shipped 70 million 5G smartphones, thus, ordered close behind the South Korean giant Samsung which shipped 77 million units in the same duration.

It should be mentioned that Huawei is still the leader of 5G smartphones among other Android phone manufacturers. Huawei’s global shipments of 5G smartphones totaled 95 million in the last 9 quarters.

However, the company is quickly losing its grip because of the US-imposed sanctions. This is an opened door for other brands including OPPO, Vivo, Honor, Realme, and more.

Global 5G Android Smartphone shipment report

Moving forward, when it comes to 5G smartphone growth, Lenovo including Motorola is the real leader. The company’s shipments witnessed a growth of 3480% with 1.8 million units shipments annually in the said quarter.

Realme with 1773% YOR annual growth in Q2 2021 ranked second. Whereas OnePlus placed in the third position with shipment volumes improving 877% annually. Honor has also scored well, 6.5 million 5G smartphone shipments that too within just two quarters.
