Xiaomi Mi 12 to equip LPDDR5X memory

After the successful debut of the Mi 11 series worldwide, Xiaomi has now begun developing the Mi 12 lineup. From the last few months, we are hearing a lot about these smartphones.

Meanwhile, a fresh arrival from Chinese media claims that Mi 12 will feature the new LPDDR5X memory. If you don’t know, the JEDEC Solid State Technology Association has just announced the new JESD209-5B standard for “5th generation low power double rate” (LPDDR5) DRAM memory, which is LPDDR5X memory.

If the above-mentioned information goes true, then Xiaomi Mi 12 will be the first smartphone to use the LPDDR5X memory. Anyways, the new memory type has three main changes. One of those is that the rate increases from 6400Mbps to 8533Mbps.

Also, the TX/RX equalization improves signal integrity, and the new adaptive refresh management improves reliability.

Aside from this, it was also reported that Mi 12 will come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 898 processor. According to the previous reports, this chip will adopt a 1+3+2+2 four-cluster architecture with a frequency of 3.09.

However, the new chipset misses the legendary 3nm process as it will be built using Samsung and TSMC’c 4nm process. The overall power consumption and heat generation will be quite high.

On the other hand, the decline in performance due to heating is not very good for the Snapdragon 888 SoC. Therefore, Qualcomm is expected to put some effort into Snapdragon 898 chip.

Xiaomi Mi 12 Launch Schedule:

Recently, it was reported that Mi 12 will make its debut earlier in December this year. However, this is just speculation based on the launch of the previous model of the line.

Does Xiaomi introduce a single Mi 12 smartphone or the vanilla will come paired with other models too? Right now, we cannot say anything. Last year, Xiaomi uncovered Mi 11 alone in China, later it was introduced in other markets and then the tech giant launched other smartphones of the line in several markets together.
