Latest WhatsApp Beta introduces a new Expired View feature

WhatsApp is testing a new “Expired View Once” feature in the latest beta update, which can be identified via the build version 2.21.15.11. This disappearing photo feature is quite similar to Instagram where media get expired after a definite time period (after 14 days).

As usual, this feature is currently only rolled out for Android beta testers and there are no words on its general release. Usually, the company didn’t take much time in releasing the update for general users. Thus, it will be soon rolled out for other users.

How will it Work?

Once you update your WhatsApp, the image will disappear if the recipient opens it and leaves the conversation. It will work for videos, photos, and GIFs, if the view once button doesn’t show up when you share the media with anyone, it means you may not be able to use media.

Besides, previously, WhatsApp introduced the possibility to send WhatsApp media with the view once option. These media files have the capability to be removed from the conversation section within 14 days if the receiver didn’t open the file.

Therefore, if you do not open photos and videos that are set to view once every 14 days, the media may be marked as expired. The developers will highlight these details in a future update as well.
