Recently, we have seen Xiaomi Mi Mix Flip with a clamshell folding design. Now the dutch media has showcased another patent with an inward but unique folding design.
According to the media, Beijing Xiaomi Mobile Software filed a design patent with the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) in early 2020. However, the documentation was released yesterday (July 6).
The documentation includes 21 images that show the device from all sides. It also has two-color renders and the renders designed by Xiaomi give a good idea of the end product.

Xiaomi Folding Phone
As mentioned above, this is an infolding smartphone similar to Mi Mix Fold but with a more flexible screen. The screen proceeds through the side of the device, from the inside to the front and there is no separate cover screen available.
Since the screen extends through the side, this folding phone has a distinctive and stylish design and so we called it unique. The designer has even used a wrap-around display, such as the Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha. It is worth mentioning that this is the first foldable smartphone with a wrap-around display.
Moreover, a vertical frame is visible next to the flexible screen, for the necessary connectors. In terms of thickness, this points somewhat compared to the flexible screen. When folded, it fits together seamlessly while when unfolded, it looks like a tablet.
However, we already know this design aspect from the Huawei Mate Xs. The selfie camera is incorporated in the frame, consisting of several camera lenses. A vertically designed camera system is also visible on the back.
The power button seems to be located on the top and a USB Type-C port seems at the bottom. While a speaker can be found at the top and bottom.
Anyways, in the first quarter of this year, Xiaomi launched its first-ever folding smartphone – Mi Mix Fold in China. Meanwhile, the tech giant is expected to introduce at least one more smartphone in the markets. Reports say that it will come equipped with UDC.
