Xiaomi India has plans to introduce Mi 11 Lite 5G, confirms CEO

Xiaomi has just launched the Mi 11 Lite smartphones in India. We know that there are two networking variants of the smartphone – 4G and 5G. However, Xiaomi India has only introduced the 4G variant.

Meanwhile, there are reports that the 5G variant of the phone will also be offered in the country. At the launch event today, the Xiaomi India CEO itself announced that they have plans to launch Mi 11 Lite 5G in the country.

He said, whenever the 5G network rolls out or if there is enough demand for the device in India it will be launched. Considering that 5G services are not available in the region and the full testing is yet to begin, it is very difficult to assume the exact Mi 11 Lite 5G launch timeline.

The public trials are expected to begin as early as next year. But by then, the Mi 11 Lite 5G will become an outdated model in today’s fast-paced smartphone ships. This means only demand and competition can make Xiaomi bring this handset to India.

Except for Xiaomi, other OEMs such as Realme, OnePlus, and Samsung already have multiple affordable 5G models in their portfolio. The Chinese tech giant is behind the race as it only has Mi 10i with 5G connectivity in the under Rs 25,000 segment.

Well, the Mi 11 Lite 4G and Mi 11 Lite 5G are identical to each other. The only major difference between the two is the chipset. When the 4G variant is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G SoC, the 5G version features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 780G chip.
