Xiaomi achieved noticeable gain in several regional markets across the globe in Q1 2021

Counterpoint Research has recently released the global smartphone shipment data report for the first (Q1) quarter of 2021. The counterpoint analysis shows the position of smartphone brands in the markets in Q1.

According to the report, the total global shipments in the first quarter reached 354 million units with a year-on-year increase of 20%. At the same time, it accounted for a month-on-month decline of 10%.

The report further shows that in the first quarter, Xiaomi had a market share of 14% and the tech giant gained the third position in global market share. Whereas Samsung led the market with a 22% share, followed by Apple with a 17% share.

The other OEMs that are on the list are Oppo, Vivo, and Huawei, which have a market share of 11% 10%, and 4% respectively.

Besides global, the report added that the Indian smartphone market diminished in the second quarter, but with a market share of 26%, Xiaomi recorded a year-on-year growth of 8% in the region.

Regional Smartphone Market share:

Asia:

The Chinese company Vivo headed the Asian smartphone market with a share of 18%. Whereas, Xiaomi ranked third in the region.

North America:

Where Apple with a 55% share led the market, Xiaomi is not even on the list. Samsung has the second position with 28% share and LG is third with 7% share.

Europe:

Followed by Apple with 24% share, Samsung led the market with 37% share. Xiaomi gets a third place with a market of 19%, a strong growth in the region.

Latin America:

Samsung achieved a 42% market share in the Latin America region, while Motorola grabbed 2nd spot with 22% share.

Middle East:

In the Middle East, Samsung grabbed the first poison with a share of 26% while Xiaomi gets third with a 10% market share.
