Future Xiaomi phones could lack charging port to prefer wireless charging

Xiaomi set the new records for wired as well as wireless fast charge technology by launching two new chargers later in May. The company now has 200W wires and 120W wireless chargers that can charge a smartphone to 100% in just 8 and 15 minutes respectively.

In regards, the technicians of Xiaomi answered a few questions of users today. Giving an answer to one of the questions, the officials said that we may see a smartphone launching with no USB charging port as early as next year.

That means some upcoming smartphones may only rely on wireless charging. An example of such a smartphone is Vivo Apex 2020, which offered 60W wireless fast charging as its sole charging solution.

The technicians further said that the only reason why smartphone users prefer wireless charging is the imperfection of wireless charging technology. Also, its support in public places is limited right now.

When compared to wireless charging technology, the wired charging solution is mature. People have also questioned the safety of this technology, especially when charging rates have increased in recent times. But in few months, we can see mobile phones with improved wireless charging technology.
