Samsung tops, Xiaomi became third largest smartphone brand in Chile in Q1 2021

Xiaomi, everyone in the world knows the brand. Its premium smartphones with lesser pricing are famous among us. The company is now the world’s third-largest smartphone manufacturer and India’s top hight selling smartphone brand.

Meanwhile, as per the new information, Strategy Analytics released a report saying that in Q1 of 2021, Xiaomi smartphone shipments in Chile grew by over 1000%. The Executive Director at Strategy Analytics said –

“Smartphone shipments in Chile jumped 71% YoY from 1.7 million units during Q1 2020 to a record 2.9 million in Q1 2021. Despite Covid and political uncertainty, demand for smartphones soared due to a buoyant economy, strong exports, and a perceived high vaccination rate. Chile is the third-largest smartphone market in Latin America, after Brazil and Mexico.”

The report further claims that Xiaomi’s shipments jumped from almost zero in Q1 2020 to a record 0.5 million units during Q1 2021. The company grew from 2% to 16% market share during the previous year.

It should be noted that the strong presence of Redmi smartphone models helped Xiaomi grab the third position in the Chilean smartphone market share. The pullout of Huawei helped as well.

If the company contumely grows in China, the brand will become the second-largest smartphone brand in the country before the end of this year.

Aside from Xiaomi, Samsung’s market share in Chile grew 63% YoY from 0.8 million in Q1 2020 to 1.2 million units in Q1 2021. Samsung’s smartphone market share in Chile remains relatively stable for now, around 42%.

Lastly, Lenovo and Motorola hold second place and grew their smartphone market share from 12% during Q1 2020 to 17% in Q1 2021.
