Xiaomi patents new circular rotating selfie camera smartphone

According to China National Intellectual Property, Xiaomi has recently applied for a new smartphone patent. The patent design was already filed in November 2020 and is published now.

The main highlight of the phone is its rotating selfie camera. As reported by 91Mobiles, the phone has a semi-circular module the rotates 180-degree from the top frame. Thus, the phone will offer a complete display experience with edge-to-edge bezels.

Also, it seems to have dual camera lenses on the front and at least dual cameras on the back along with an LED flash. When we talk about the design of the phone, it has an immersive screen-to-body ratio on front. While a circular camera module can be seen on the back. At the bottom, it has a USB Type-C port and speaker grille.

Well, this is all we knew about the new patent. Besides, the company has previously applied for a similar patent, which is pop-up camera technology. This too offers a full display experience with edge-to-edge bezels.

The only difference between these two is, the new patent selfie camera is circular rotating and it can rotate up to 180 degrees. While the pop-up camera isn’t circular rotate.

Likewise, to provide a full display experience with edge-to-edge bezels, the company is reportedly working on under-screen camera technology. It is said that the smartphone featuring this technology will launch in the second half of this year. Although, Xiaomi is yet to announce it.
