Xiaomi phones’ Xiao Ai voice assistant gains Cantonese language support

Earlier this morning, Xiaomi officially announced that the “Xiao Ai” voice assistant on Xiaomi mobile phones will now support Cantonese for vocal conversations. It can understand users’ Cantonese and uses this dialect to answer.

Currently, Xiao Ai’s dialogue function supports only Mandarin and Cantonese but the bid recognition ceremony also supports the Northeast dialect, Henan dialect, Hebei dialect, Shandong dialect (Jinan), Shanxi dialect (Taiyuan), Shanan dialect (Xi’an) and Tianjin Supports dialect.

If you don’t know, the 5.0 version of Xiao Ai on Xiaomi mobile phones officially released at the end of 202o. From November 11, the Cantonese dialogue ceremony had beta testings and recruited 990 users who regularly used “Cantonese” to experience it. After half a year, the function has been completed and had been rolled out gradually to all users.

Besides, on February 5, 2021, Xiao A’s Cantonese function was officially launched on Xiaomi TV, and two-way conversations are also available. Xiaomi said that it has deeply adapted more than 20,000 sentences of general speech to suit Cantonese culture, and has made a special adaptation of speech recognition for Cantonese scenes.

Xiao AE used the Cantonese speech synthesis technique provided by Guangzhou Shensheng Technology Co., Ltd., and the rate of accuracy is much higher than the overall level of the industry.

As of now, Xiaomi has not announced the specific model and App version number for the upgrade of the Cantonese dialogue function for Xiao Ai students.
