Xiaomi is known for its superior budget phones, still, the company managed to release interesting high-end models, such as Mi 11 series. Recently, the tech giant has also introduced its first foldable smartphone, Mi Mix Fold. The company is expected to present many new and interesting smartphone models in the coming years.
Following the new information, Xiaomi Mobile Software filed a new patent for a special smartphone design at the end of October 2020. The documentation was released today, April 20, 2021. In the patent, the company shared 32 product images along with a brief description.

The new patent shows a unique and modern mobile phone with a sleek and progressive design. The phone has a straight screen edge and there’s no physical button available on it.
Moreover, the front side of the phone neither has a notch nor a punch-hole camera, it seems that the phone will have an under-screen camera technology. Well, we already know that the company’s first under-screen camera smartphone is in development and it is expected to be released in the second half of this year.
Furthermore, the back of the phone is also designed uniquely, its camera lenses are arranged in a way that looks like a kind of thunderbolt (lightning bolt). It may be a triple camera with flash or a dual camera with a double flash.
According to the patent image, this uniquely designed camera system can be integrated into various ways. The images show three possibilities that Xiaomi has documented. It is also hitting that the camera projects only very slightly compared to the housing. On the other hand, the frame seems to have designed a bit thicker than usual.
However, it is currently unknown if the company is actually working on such a product or covering all bases for a future iteration of this technology. If the patent that the company has showcased is real then it would be quite interesting to see such unique technology.
