Google Phone automatic call recording feature is now live

Google’s dialer/phone app is very popular among Android smartphone users. Instead of the phone manufacturer’s self-developed dialer app, several brands’ smartphones come pre-installed with Google’s official phone app.

It lets you easily connect with family and friends, block spam callers, and know who is calling you before you answer. Also, it is known as a truly secure dialer app when it comes to privacy protection and reliability.

Other than this, the application allows you to record calls manually by tapping the record button during the call. But Google Phone lacks the automatic call recording feature, which is quite important for a large number of Android smartphone users.

Meanwhile, as per the new information, Google is adding the automatic call recording feature to its Phone app. If you get a lot of spam calls or have problems with people calling from numbers you don’t recognize, the ability to record any unknown number gives you an added layer of protection when accepting these calls.

Moreover, this feature was first found in an app teardown earlier this year and now it seems that Google is officially bringing this amazing feature for Android users.

The ability to record calls is found within a new “Call recording” section of the Google Phone app. Fortunately, the report by XDA says, this doesn’t appear to be limited to a specific Android device. There are multiple reports of call recording being available for phones from the likes of Xiaomi and Nokia in selected regions.

Adding to this, the new feature comes with a big disclaimer, which says,

“You or the other person in your call might be somewhere that requires everyone to consent to being recorded. Everyone will be notified ahead of time that the call is being recorded. It’s up to you to follow laws about recording conversations. Recordings are stored only on your phone.”

The report further states that in addition to recording all calls automatically, this feature allows users to select the numbers they always want to record calls. Below you can check the screenshots from a Xiaomi Mi A3 smartphone user.
