Xiaomi is eligible to re-incorporate with FTSE Russell Index

FTSE Russell is a leading global provider of benchmarks, analytics, and data solutions with multi-asset capabilities. The company has previously declared that it will remove Xiaomi from the global index due to the U.S ban.

Meanwhile today, FTSE Russell stated that that Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi is eligible to be included in the FTSE Russell Index again and this order will be effective from June 21.

Other than this, on March 12, Washington District Judge Rudolph Contreras issued a preliminary order to stop the Department of Defense from restricting US investors’ investment in the Xiaomi Group.

Following this, on March 13, Xiaomi said, the electronic products produced by the company are for global customers. And, the addition of the company to the Chinese military-related enterprises’ list was an impulsive and unreasonable decision.

Although, the U.S court agreed with this statement of Xiaomi. Hence, Xiaomi will continue to debate with the court to eventually declare that the decree is invalid for Xiaomi.

Moreover, just after the US government unbanned Xiaomi, Hong Kong’s stock market opened up and Xiaomi Group grew 10.55%. As per the information, 15 Hong Kong dollars and the market value reached 63.814 billion Hong Kong dollars or about 530.35 billion yuan.
