Earlier we have seen, Xiaomi launched the new version of its Android skin MIUI – MIUI 12.5 in China. Meanwhile yesterday on February 8, the company launched it internationally.

The MIUI 12.5 supports Android gesture Turbo which provides an extremely fast response in the system and upgraded its computing power. It also brings system animations, sound designs, new super wallpapers, and more.

According to Xiaomi, MIUI 12.5 is lighter, faster, and cheaper. The system user interface was rewritten, so the memory usage is reduced by 20% and the background memory usage is less by an average of 35%, and the system application power consumption decreased by an average of 25%.
In addition, based on the core technology of the MIUI 12.5 motion effect, MIUI’s light cone motion effect architecture is at a higher level. It builds a dedicated thread for gestures which determines the priority of gesture operations and responds quickly. The computing power of the light cone architecture has been improved, which is 20 times the rendering power. The effect classification has been optimized, and the official said it can make mobile phones with different configurations smoother.
MIUI 12.5 also brings a new super wallpaper “Snow Mountain”, based on the main peak of Siguniang Mountain in Sichuan which includes the real-time rendering of light and cloud changes for 24 hours. Every time you unlock, you can see the different beautiful mountains of Siguniang. The new landing locations of “Super Wallpaper Earth” are Shipwreck Bay in Greece and Blade’s Edge Mountain in Italy. Moreover, a series of super wallpapers will be launched in the first half of next year.
MIUI 12.5 adds natural notification sounds co-created with global sound artists. It brought the four main habitats of the South American rainforest, Australia, East African grasslands, and the Arctic Circle. There are more than 120 global biological sounds for you to mix and match. A new system sound effect derived from natural elements and a stereo surround sound field has been added. All sounds are designed for dual speakers, giving full play to the characteristics of dual speakers.
MIUI 12.5 brings a natural touch and brings a real touch to the phone. It also improves the feedback characteristics in reality, and present a natural touch and subtle vibration. The rich transient tactile library covers the entire system. It will be released online on December 30, 2020.
In terms of privacy, MIUI 12.5 brings the privacy protection of the clipboard which allows applications to read the behavior of the clipboard and record access records in detail. It also read the application reasonably and publishes it locally. The application only obtains your approximate location, adds a new integrated fuzzy positioning function based on differential privacy technology, and returns the choice to the user.
MIUI 12.5 is the first Android system to fully enable the sandbox mechanism, which can isolate albums independently. For private information, the application needs to apply for other access permissions to support the separate setting of the application to read permission details. The browser will upgrade its privacy protection function with Web behavior recording, block malicious downloading of web pages, and add an internet anti-tracking function. In addition, Xiaomi also stated that each application in the Xiaomi App Store will have its own privacy statement.
MIUI 12.5 upgrades annotations to MIUI annotations which add mental notes and generate brain maps with one click. It may also include graffiti function, optimized for finger painting, can automatically adjust graphics and connect lines. Text, links, pictures, articles, brainstorming ideas are automatically extracted into notes. The new typesetting system uses an innovative dynamic grid to build beautiful text sequences.
It also brings collaboration between phone and laptop, so you can view mobile notifications on your computer, copy the text on your phone and paste it directly onto your computer, open the screenshot of your phone directly on your computer, and view your phone is on the computer.
As per the release plan, the first batch of MIUI 12.5 development version will be tested on December 28, 2020, and the public test will be released in batches in mid-January 2021. The first batch of stable versions will be released at the end of April 2021.
