Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has just launched its new flagship series, Redmi K40 in China. The series includes three variants – Redmi K40, Redmi K40 Pro, and Redmi K40 Pro+. However, we have already heard about the K40 and K40 Pro but this is the first time we are hearing Redmi K40 Pro+.
The base model Redmi K40 is amongst the first smartphones to offer Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset. Other key features of the Redmi K40 include a 120Hz AMOLED display with a small punch-hole cutout, 5G support, up to 12GB of RAM, and a 4520mAh battery.

Display
The brand new Redmi K40 sports a 6.67-inch E4 AMOLED FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch response, a tiny 2.76mm punch-hole cutout, and a 3.5mm slim bottom bezel. Adding to this, it has an in-display fingerprint sensor for security.
Processor, RAM, and Storage
The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC paired with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage that will be further expandable via a microSD card.
Software and connectivity
The phone runs on Android 11-based MIUI 12 custom skin out of the box. Its connectivity features include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, and USB Type-C for charging and data transfer. Also, it supports dual SIM (nano + nano).
Camera
Coming to the camera configuration, the Redmi K40 comes equipped with a 48MP AI triple camera system at the back that includes a 48MP primary sensor, an 8MP wide-angle lens, and a 5MP macro lens. There is a 20MP camera on the front for selfies and video chats.
Battery and other features
The product is pre-packed with a 4,520mAh battery that supports 33W fast-charging. Moreover, the Redmi K40 measures 7.8mm in thickness and comes equipped with stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos, High-Res audio, and IP53 for dust and water resistance.
Availability
Redmi K40 offers three color options – Glossy Black, Icy White, and Dreamland. It is already available to order at online stores in China and it will go on sale from March 4th.
