Surpassing Samsung, Xiaomi tops Russian online smartphone market in Q4 2020

Just recently we have seen that higher sales of Redmi 8 and Redmi 9 helped Xiaomi to lead the Indian smartphone market in 2020. Last year, the Indian smartphone market drooped by 2%, still, the company won 27% of the Indian smartphone market.

Moreover, just like India and other countries, Russia is also an important market for Chinese brands. In Q3, Huawei led the country with a 27.8% share in the Online Smartphone market.

Meanwhile, Counterpoint Research has come out with the next Quarter (Q4) report. The report claims that Xiaomi has surpassed Samsung and other giant brands to become Russia’s mobile phone brand with the highest online sales in the fourth quarter of 2020.

As per the report, entire smartphone sales declined by 11% year over year in Russia during Q4 2020. One of the major reasons is the second-wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the share of the online Smartphone sales grew 1% in comparison to Q4 to reach 35% of total sales in Q4 compared.

Among the group, Xiaomi managed to beat Samsung and Huawei to get an Online Shipment share of 31% in Q4. Just like the last Quarter, Samsung seems to be the overall Popular brand in Russia as per the report.

On the other hand, Xiaomi managed to grow 4% QoQ to capture 31% of Online Market Shipment Share and top the list in Q4. Samsung sits in 2nd place with a 27% share, a 2.1% YoY and only a 0.7% QoQ growth.
