Redmi Note 8 grabbing Android 11 based MIUI 12.5 beta update

As we know that Xiaomi has started to roll out the Android 11 update to its eligible devices. A set of Xiaomi devices including the Redmi K30 series, Mi 10 series, Redmi Note 9, and more already received the Android 11 update along with new features.

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 8 in August 2019. This device launched with Android 9 Pie and received the Android 10-based MIUI 12 update.

Now, the company is releasing the Android 11 based MIUI 12 closed beta update for Redmi Note 8 users in China. It is expected that the stable update will be released in mid-to-late January 2021.

This update brings a set of new features and optimizations to the device for a better experience. Recently, Xiaomi released the MIUI 12 beta update with version 21.1.12 in China.

Note: You can install it on Global stable devices too.

This is an incremental rollout. It may not be available for all users now but will be soon followed by all in the coming days/hours. Below are the steps to check whether the update is available for your handset or not.

  1. Head to Settings
  2. Go to About Phone
  3. Check for Software Update

Before you download the update:

  • This update will not harm your files but make sure to backup your data just to be on the safe side if any incident happens.
  • Must-Have the bootloader unlocked.
  • USB Debugging must be enabled.
  • Make sure that the device has more than 50% battery percentage.

How to Install Closed Beta ROM:

  1. Download the firmware file and save that to your device
  2. Now connect your Xiaomi device to the PC
  3. Transfer the ROM file to the root directory of your device’s storage.
  4. Now go to the Updater Application.
  5. Then Click the three-dot menu at the top right corner, and Choose the update package
  6. Next, Choose the downloaded ROM file you have transferred
  7. The Update process will start automatically
  8. Once the installation is completed reboot your device
  9. Done!!! Now your Xiaomi should have the latest official stable MIUI ROM.
